What is an open deck? Open deck means no protective shield around the blades at the front and back of the machine. If your toes go under, there is nothing stopping the blades from removing them. Steel toed boots please. It is also the same when mowing serious vegetation. The blades can get access to cut easily and effectively. No protective skirt also means less hangups. The Tank slips off and keeps cutting.
